(extra) WEEK 8 How to design a good street? What do you think

I think that in order to design a silver street, we must give comfort and enjoyment to the street people first. And we have to give the streets vitality and life. To do that, we have to get people to look for it. First of all, one of the ways is to make the street itself beautiful. For example, the mural village was initially used only by residents. However, painting beautiful pictures on the walls attracted not only residents but also many people, and became a vibrant street. It is also helpful to design not only the street but also the periphery of the street. If there are shops around the street that people are likely to find, the street will be full of vitality.

(extra) WEEK 4 What is Drama? Please try to describe theater as if you were explaining this concept to a person who never heard of it.

If I define drama in a word, it is a story in someone's imagination. The actions, words, places, and situations of the characters in the drama are fictions created by someone. Some dramas deal with what might be in reality, but they are not. You may think that it is reality because you are familiar with yourself, but the drama itself cannot become reality. This is because they are all directed. Every detail is directing. Drama deals with content that can never happen in reality. Someone dramatizes things that can never happen in reality through their imagination. People are interested because they can't happen in reality. In other words, drama is all fiction.

(extra) WEEK 8 How to design a good street? What do you think

I think the environment that affects them is more important. People may be affected by the actions of each person, but I think it is more affected by the environment that many people have formed. There are many changes in one's behavior depending on how the environment around him is created. Let's say everyone is saying the same answer to a problem. Can you shout different answers in this situation? It creates an environment where people can only tell the answers they say. Of course, there may be people shouting different answers. But I think there will be few. The environment has a lot of influence on yourself and is important.

(extra) WEEK 2. How do we shape our behaviors because of others?

People live under the influence of others. From childhood, they are influenced by their parents and shape their own behavior. They imitate their parents' behavior before they reach an age where they can decide for themselves about their behavior. That is why the behavior of parents is very important. When you're old enough to decide for yourself about your actions, you'll imitate the person you want to imitate. For example, you choose your friends or celebrities around you and shape your actions. This happens constantly. People form their own behavior by watching other people's actions and distinguishing between what they shouldn't and want to imitate. Of course, I'm talking about age after which it can be distinguished.

(extra) WEEK 5 What’s the front of a TV idol?

The front of the idol on the TV is gorgeous. Most people will not be able to know that idols are making a tremendous effort to show their flashy appearance from the front, unless they are revealed directly. One of the most important things for an idol is getting a lot of attention and love from people. That's why idols do a lot of things that fans will like from the front. In addition, they are criticized by many people when they do something that is socially wrong, so they are always careful and mindful of their behavior from the front. They always try to show a good side and to show a happy side rather than a gloomy side.

(extra) WEEK 5. Are students giving gifts to professors trying to bribe them into getting better grades?

In the past, I've often seen articles about taking bribes and manipulating grades. Of course, there have been reports recently that high-ranking officials have bribed their children for their children's grades, but not as many as before. I think it is because the law on bribery has been strengthened and there is also a defense of people's perceptions. I think society has changed a lot to make people feel guilty about the grades they get in the wrong way. Therefore, it is not common for students to bribe students to get good grades.  However, it seems that there are still many students who cheat. In particular, as the number of non-face-to-face exams increases due to Corona 19, there are many students who do not take the exam properly. The non-face-to-face test is a special case conducted due to COVID-19. As a countermeasure against this has not been adequately prepared yet, it seems that the punishment for unfair behavior is not properly implemented. I think it is necessary

Extra] Why are you taking this class?

Image
Last semester, I took the first class in sociology and learned many things, and I was interested in sociology. So I took this class because I wanted to learn more about sociology. Also, it was very interesting to find and learn sociology in 'everyday life'. I thought that learning sociology in everyday life would broaden our view of society. One semester has already ended, and I could learn many things. It was an opportunity to study and learn about sociology through interesting examples. Thank you for the semester.

Extra] Every successful indoor space provides foods. do you agree?

Image
I agree that all successful indoor spaces provide food. For example, there are kids cafes, PC cafes, and book cafes. The Kids Cafe offers delicious food for children and guardians. Children who are tired of playing can eat delicious food. PC rooms also serve a variety of foods. People who play games can eat delicious food right away when they are hungry. Book cafes also offer delicious food. In addition to providing interesting books, they provide delicious food for hungry customers while reading books. Of course, not all successful indoor spaces provide food, but most successful indoor spaces provide food.

Extra] How should a student act in order for the teacher to think the student is paying attention in class? What to do and what not to do?

Image
There are many behaviors that make the teacher think the students are concentrating in class. Let me explain some of them. First, the student should look into the teacher's eyes. Looking into the eyes means listening to the teacher. Secondly, students should ask their teacher right away if they have any questions. Third, students should take classes by taking notes or taking notes. If you take notes, the teacher will think the student is concentrating on the class. Fourth, you have to actively respond to the teacher's question. If you respond to the teacher's question, the teacher will say that the student is concentrating on the class.  On the other hand, I will explain the behaviors that should not be done in class.First, you should not do anything that is not related to the class. For example, you shouldn't use your cell phone and chat with your friends.

Extra] Which subway stations are good? Which are bad? Why?

Good subway stations should be convenient for people to use. Therefore, I think accessibility should be good. I think that the good subway station should be located where many people pass by and where the traffic is good. Also, I think a subway station that is convenient for disabled people is a good one. Therefore, I think elevators should be installed for the disabled and braille and sidewalk blocks should be installed. Also, screen doors should be installed for safety. And I think a good subway station is a subway station that keeps clean.

Extra] What is the relation between Wikipedia and collective intelligence?

Image
I think Wikipedia and collective intelligence are very relevant. Because if one person writes on Wikipedia, it can be easily modified by another person. Even if one person writes the wrong information on Wikipedia, a vast amount of information is accumulated because someone else can easily modify it. And the information is correct through modification. Collective intelligence has enabled Wikipedia to provide people with a lot of information and quality information.

Extra] How to design a good street? What do you think?

Image
I think a good street is a pleasant street. I think we should keep clean for a good street. If people spit, they should be fined to keep the streets clean. You should also set up trash cans so that people can throw them away. And I think it should be designated as a non-smoking area so that people cannot smoke on the streets. A street without chewing gum, cigarette smoke, cigarette butts, or trash can be a good street. And I think we should install enough streetlights to make a good street and plant flowers and trees for beauty. It will be a safe street for people to walk on, and it will be a beautiful street.

Extra] What is plagiarism?

Image
Plagiarism means the use of some or all of the works created by another person as if they were his/her creations. Usually, it refers to the act of quoting or borrowing other people's works without revealing enough sources in the field of learning or art, and it tends to be regarded as a moral and ethical problem.  Plagiarism is distinguished from the reproduction of other people's creations in that they are stolen from their own. Parody is also used to borrow other people's works, but it is distinguished from plagiarism in that it basically reveals the original and expresses it satirical and humorous.   We should try to make our own work through our thoughts and efforts. Plagiarizing other people's creations is tantamount to stealing. We should protect other people's creations and work hard to create new ones.

(extra) WEEK 2. How should a student act in order for the teacher to think the student is paying attention in class? What do do - and what not to do?

The student must first make eye contact with the teacher. Eye contact is the best way to let you know you are focused on class. And answering the teacher's questions is the correct behavior of students who are focusing on the class.  And nodding your head is also an act of letting you know you're focusing on class. Nodding your head is an act of letting the teacher know that you understand the teacher's class and interacting with it.  The pretense not to do is to talk to a friend. This is an action that disturbs class as well as reminds you that you are not attending class.  Also, don't use your cell phone. There are also some helpful parts, such as the cell phone searching for unknowns in class. However, playing games or exchanging messengers with friends creates an environment where you can't focus on class.

(extra) WEEK 3. The examples of Korea Ethnomethodology.

First of all, Korean national methodology laughs by clapping hands when you laugh. Furthermore, they laugh at someone next to them. When you start talking, there are words that you say first. For example, there are'no','real', and'ah'. For example, in ‘Do you think what you’re saying is correct?’, it is used like ‘No, do you think what you’re saying is correct?’ Also, when you hear something surprising, when you hear something embarrassing, when you hear something unfortunate, most of the time when you hear something you want to empathize with, most of them start with'Ah really?'. Koreans use these actions and words.

(extra) WEEK 3. What can we learn from a breaching experiment?

A breaching experiment is experiment that study people's reactions to violating general social rules and concepts. People's reactions to the offense were generally negative. People are uncomfortable and unpleasant to behave in violation. Irving Goffman presents the perspective that our daily life is like a performance in which we interact with others on the stage of the world and direct our self. So, we've found that people are trying to avoid embarrassing themselves or making others suffer because of their social interaction. I learned about the reasons why I do not violate.

(extra) WEEK 8. Is the ERICA campus well designed? Could it be better?

Image
I think the Erica campus is generally well designed. The buildings are well categorized for each college. So it is easy to find the building. And public facilities that each student can access are gathered and properly located. The lake park is located not far from each building where students study, so it is easy to access. That's why it's a great place to relax with friends. Also, convenience stores and cafes are properly arranged, so it is convenient to use. The building, which is relatively less used by students, is far from the main entrance. One regret is that the dormitory is too far from the main entrance, which makes it uncomfortable for students who use it.

(extra) WEEK 8. "Every successful indoor space provides food." Do you agree?

Serving food will play a big part in creating a successful indoor venue, but not all indoor spaces. So I disagree. It doesn't serve food, but I think there are also successful indoor spaces. Representatively, there is a karaoke room. Karaoke rooms are a place where people of all ages visit. It serves water or drinks, but not food. However, it is an indoor place that many people visit and a lot of people like. Another example is a performance venue. In places where plays or musicals are performed, bringing in food is rather prohibited. This is because it interferes with both the performer and the viewer. It doesn't serve food, but it's a successful indoor place.

(extra) WEEK 8. Can we think of places that should have more stores? Would the campus be better if it had more shopping places?

I think there should be more shops around the Erica campus. Somehow, there are many restaurants and cafes for students around the campus. It is a disappointment that the types of stores are limited and not diverse because they are intended for students. I think it is not enough for students to revitalize the campus. I think the shops around campus need to be varied in order to get more people to visit the campus. That's not to say that the store is too far from campus. It's a good idea to have some campus relevance and provide good reason for outsiders to visit the campus. Then I think the campus will be more vibrant and active.

(extra) WEEK 8. Would you agree that "What attracts people most is other people?”

I agree. There are differences in degree, but most people live under the influence of others. At a large level, it is attracted to celebrities. Representatively, celebrities who show a lot of gorgeous appearances attract people the most. There are a lot of people who follow celebrities' clothes, accessories, and makeup. I think celebrities are the ones who lead the trend and are the ones who are most easily exposed to us, so I think they are affected a lot. Also, students influence each other. Students who spend a lot of time with their friends are affected not only by their fashion, but also by their behavior and speech. Furthermore, it can also affect personality changes. So I agree that it is the other people who attract people.

(extra) WEEK 8. Which subway stations are good? Which are bad? Why?

The station name must be similar to the name of the place. If you don't know where you are now through the name of the subway station, you can say that the subway station is misplaced. The wrong subway station's location can cause confusion to people, just as the Seoul National University station is not located at the entrance to Seoul National University.  Also, subway stations should be located where many people pass by. I think subway stations do their part when many people use them. Therefore, I think it is good to have a subway station in a crowded area. Representatively, there are Gangnam Station and Hongdae Station.

Week 5. Are students giving gifts to professors trying to bribe them into getting better grades?

Are students giving gifts to professors trying to bribe them into getting better grades? In fact, although people in the upper class often bribe and get good grades, it is very wrong. The grades should always be fairly distributed. That's why the "Kim Young-ran Act" currently exists. The official name of the Kim Young-ran Act is the Act on the Prohibition of Illegal Solicitation, Money and Money, etc. It was implemented on September 28, 2016, and the core of the ban on illegal solicitation and acceptance of bribes by public officials, including journalists and private school faculty members.

(extra) Project 2: Public Space Observation here

Observations of the reasons for visiting cafes showed that on average, people came to study or do assignments at cafes, while the few came to cafes to take out. It can be concluded that most people often use the public space of cafes for study or to carry out assignments. The business district in front of the school is greatly influenced by the school schedule.

(extra) Project 4: Advertisement Analysis here

Project 4 was Advertisement Analysis. In advertisements, young women or girls are sometimes expressed sexually. One of them, Baskin Robbins, was analyzed. In the advertisement, an 11-year-old girl was wearing makeup including pink lipstick. The camera took a close-up shot of the girl's lips eating ice cream. And the girl looked at the screen and raised one eyebrow and made a fascinating expression. It is not easy to find a girl like this in reality. The girl in the advertisement is different from the actual 11-year-old girls. The girl in the advertisement is close to the image of a girl created by our society. If this kind of situation is repeated, little girls and boys will have wrong gender stereotypes. It also increases the likelihood of sexualizing women.

(extra) Project 3: Technology Assignment here

I think our day will be very busy if I live without technology like the 19th century. Now I lives have become convenient since the 19th century through tremendous technological advances. Also, I was able to live a more affluent life. Just as it's easy to find work materials, technology improves convenience and saves time, making life efficient. So, I realized once again that we can't live without technology.

(extra) Project 3: Technology Assignment here

Project 3 was Technology Assignment.  Technology is indispensable to our lives. It makes a lot of things convenient and entertaining. This task is to observe what happens when living without these technologies. I kept a record of what I did without skill during the day. Living without technology had a lot of inconvenience. First of all, I got help from YouTube when I was stretching, but I couldn't. Also, I played music easily on my smartphone, but I couldn't. The hardest time was when I was working on an assignment. I usually got information for doing assignments through internet search. However, since I couldn't use the internet, it took a long time to do the assignment. Technology allowed me to do a lot in a given amount of time. It made our life convenient and made us use our time efficiently.

(extra) Project 2: Public Space Observation here

Project 2 was Public Space Observation .  One of the things that influences people's behavior is their physical environment. Among them, a project to observe people's behavior in public places was implemented. The experiment was conducted in a cafe, a representative public place. And the behavior was classified into three categories (people who study or work at a cafe, people who talk to people, people who come to take out coffee), and after two weeks of observation, they come to a public place called a cafe to study or work. On average, people were the most. It cannot be excluded that the cafe is near the school and is affected by the period of the exam.

How to design a good street? What do you think?

How to design a good street? What do you think? To design a good street, there should be no trash on the street. Garbage is a shortcut to ruining the street. Therefore, trash cans should be supplied to make the streets more pleasant. In fact, in Japan, there are many trash cans on the road, so the overall amount of garbage dumped on the floor is small. And to make a better street, we need to grow nature. Only when the street is as pleasant as the amount of trash mentioned earlier can it eventually grow a good street. So I have to plant and take care of many flowers and trees. Finally, streetlights should be distributed on the streets. No matter how good a street is, scary streets and lightless streets at night are too much for people to use. Therefore, safety should be increased to create such streets that people can visit and use more frequently.

Week 3 extra) What can we learn from a breaching experiment?

What can we learn from a breaching experiment?  We were able to observe many things through violation experiments. Through the violation experiment, we were able to recognize the various systems and situations we had to follow, and we were able to gauge the aftermath of breaking them. But in fact, I think that there are definitely people who ignore and violate these regulations, which leads to the collapse of hierarchy and incidental accidents. Therefore, we should stick to the basic principles and be careful not to harm our opponents. In particular, criminals committed crimes in violation of principles, and as these acts became redder, I felt that stronger laws were needed to restrain them.

Week 5 extra) Are students giving gifts to professors trying to bribe them into getting better grades?

Are students giving gifts to professors trying to bride them into getting better grades? Sometimes high school students who need high grades to get into good schools have often been able to bribe their teachers and get high grades. However, almost all of those cases were more likely than the will of students, so I wondered if it would happen even after entering university after becoming an adult. One incident that became an issue in Korea is an exact example of this question. The father of the party used his power to manipulate his child's degree rather than bribing him with great power. Starting with the incident, it created a huge issue in Korea, and more and more people seemed to be paying attention to this. So I sometimes worried about what happens when things like this happen frequently around us in college. Therefore, I think this question is a possible truth.

Week 8 extra) Would you agree that "What attracts people most is other people"?

Would you agree that "What attracts people most is other people"? I think it makes some sense. I think it's a factor enough to draw attention to how others are different from me and how they have the charm. Maybe you get to know new things and are interested in new things by looking at others. It may be a way to think in various ways, knowing that there is someone who has the opposite characteristics of me and myself. So I agree with the question of whether it's someone else that people are most interested in.

Late/make up grading marker

Late work graded up to here. Please email me if you do any late work.

WEEK 5. Are students giving gifts to professors trying to bribe them into getting better grades?

I think as utilitarian ideas seep into the campus, college students give teachers gifts, and from emotional interaction to achievement. Many college students see gift giving as a way of accumulating more people's connections, and this psychology has led to the loss of communication between college students and the loss of communication between them and the exchange of interests. The fundamental value of the gift, in its "gift," is the expression of the etiquette.

WEEK 8. Which subway stations are good? Which are bad? Why?

The good and bad of subway stations are closely related to the number of local passenger flows and the surrounding environment.the metro area is a roadway connecting two adjacent stations, and he directly relates to safe operation of the vehicle. The rationality and economy of sectional design have a great influence on total subway investment and also on the comfort of passengers and the increase in train speed.

WEEK 8. Would you agree that "What attracts people most is other people"?

Whether you feel good or bad, what you don't want or what you want, it just responds to what you think. There is no distinction between good and evil in the universe, so when you express what frequency, what attracts you is what kind of things.what attracts us is complementary, but in fact it is often people who are similar to us."Because the nature of man is narcissistic, he likes people who are similar to himself, such as people"We admire people with talent and ability, but in essence because they are the people we crave to be, so that's what they are, and what they have is what we don't have right now.People of the same character attract each other to be friends together, and not people of the same character will be estranged from each other without a chemical reaction.

week 5 extra) What’s the front of a TV idol?

Idols have a long history of origin. They worship idols in every corner of the world. Aborigines in Africa and Latin America use natural objects such as rocks, rivers, and suns; indigenous people in East Asia generally prefer idols such as kings, fairies, heroes, and heroes; and indigenous people in Central Asia and Europe generally prefer idols such as gods, angels, demons, and spirits. Idols should be more representative of a motivational factor that leads people to positive upward.Because I want to be on the same stage with my idol, I want to practice singing and acting, because I want to write a best-selling book like my idol and practice writing, because I want to be an expert in the field and study hard for my studies, and because I want to be an idol like myself, I want to be an expert in action.i think this is idol.

Project 4. Advertisement Analysis

Image
It is an advertisement by Baskin Robbins that sexualizes young women. In the commercial, a young girl wears heavy makeup, wears a short skirt, and eats ice cream. The commercial was distinctly different from the one in which Baskin Robbins previously featured children. Often used for sexual portrayal in movies, photography techniques were used, and props were also used for sex appeal. This gives young women and young men the wrong sense of adulthood. If you get used to these ads from an early age, young women will follow them, and young men will become a habit of targeting women. It is also very dangerous for adult men. Instead of seeing a young child as a child, it can be seen as a 'female,' or an object that will satisfy one's sexual desires.  Sexual objectification is not good for men and women, but especially for 'children' makes the worst situation.

Project 3. Assignment Description

Living without electronic devices, I lived like a human being with degraded civilization. Living without electronic devices, I lived like a human being with degraded civilization. At first, it was definitely uncomfortable, but when I got used to it, I felt relieved. It is true that electronic devices help us, but they also have disadvantages. Therefore, we should use electronic devices properly.

Project 2. Assignment Description

I set the cafe as a 'public place'. In the cafe, I categorized visitors as students or housewives. After that, they focused on where they sat and what they ordered food.  Public places can be restaurants, libraries, etc. as well as cafes. I thought the easiest thing to observe was a cafe, where I experimented.

WEEK 5. Are students giving gifts to professors trying to bribe them into getting better grades?

I have seen in the news or in real life that professors use their authority to give free rein to their students. But I don't think I've seen students bribing me. This seems to be because it is difficult for students to contact professors and the punishment has been strengthened.

Project 1. Assignment description

Hi, I'm Park Jimin majoring in Media and Social Infomatics. I observed the interaction in public. Actually, it was hard to go outside because of Corona 19. So I observed people at the BHC chicken restaurant where I work part-time.  The people I have observed have lived in different shapes, interestingly, in seconds, in minutes.  Objectively speaking, in my case, I want to go home as soon as I get to work and get angry because orders keep getting pushed back. But when dealing with guests, I raise my voices by two tones to speak kindly and brightly.  Gofman likened society to an actor who plays an individual on stage. He said people interpret certain situations in their own way and create images that they think will help them achieve their goals. As a service worker, I acted because I felt much nicer and nicer than the real self who wanted to go home and was angry. And customers have been talking to their families promiscuously speaking . "Hey, what's the back seat of the ph

WEEK 8. Would you agree that "What attracts people most is other people"?

I agree. People pretend not to, but they are fashion-conscious. The reason why it is a "good restaurant" is not because the food of the house is really delicious, but because people recommended it a lot and it became a word of mouth. In addition, clothes become fashionable depending on how many people wear them. Even if it's not clothes or food, people are easily swept away by public opinion according to their sympathetic psychology.

WEEK 8. Can we think of places that should have more stores? Would the campus be better if it had more shopping places?

If there are more shopping places in the university area, of course, it has a positive impact on the university. First of all, students who live near the school are convenient to buy daily necessities. In addition, universities with many shopping places can benefit from the tourist attractions themselves.

WEEK 8. "Every successful indoor space provides food." Do you agree?

I agree. And this is a particularly applicable sentence in 'Korea.' Koreans consider 'eating' very important, so they search for nearby restaurants even when they go to the sea to see the scenery. Therefore, for indoor spaces to be successful in Korea, it is natural to provide food.

WEEK 5. What other examples of idealization can we think of?

It is evident in a blind date. Even if the other person is disappointed because he or she is different from his or her ideal type, he or she does not reveal his or her feelings to the other person or facilitator. When they meet each other at a blind date, they eat, drink all the coffee, and then break up, even they don't like each other.

WEEK 5. Imagine you and your family are throwing a party for your family friends in your house. What are the stages?

Image
The stage will be a party venue. To decorate the stage, I and my family will prepare food and decorate the living room. And for a perfect finish, I'll try to laugh it off even if something bad happens.

WEEK 3. What can we learn from a breaching experiment?

Violation experiments are violations of generally accepted social rules or institutions, and observations of surrounding reactions or changing circumstances. Through violation experiments, we can know the values of observers and further understand why rules or systems have been created.

WEEK 3. The examples of Korea Ethnomethodology.

Image
Koreans are a 'quickly' race. Quick delivery, quick meal, fast internet. Few cultures 'stand by' because of the characteristics of Koreans who want everything fast.

WEEK 2. How should a student act in order for the teacher to think the student is paying attention in class? What do do - and what not to do?

The student must constantly finish his eyes with the teacher. Making eye contact goes beyond the meaning of "seeing" and means whether the student himself understands well and follows the class well. If you don't make eye contact and keep your head down, it's easy to misunderstand that you're sleeping.

WEEK 2. How do we shape our behaviors because of others?

We often turn 'minor' or 'active' depending on the reactions of the people around us. If people are negative about what we say, it's natural that we lose confidence the next time we speak. In this interactive society, the reactions of people around them are important.

WEEK 2. What symbols do we see, and how do they influence our behavior?

Symbols shorten the time people spend on communication. If you shake your head horizontally or make an "X" with your hands, it means denial. And if you shake your head vertically or make an 'o' with your hands, it means positive. In such a busy or difficult situation, 'symbol' becomes a convenient means of communication.

WEEK 2. What is more important: the actions of individuals or the environment that influences them?

Mencius mother  is said to have moved three times to educate Mencius. The reason is that when Mencius lived near the cemetery, he played with the sound of music, and when he lived next to the market, he played business.  This shows how much the surrounding environment affects individuals.

[Extra] project4 'Advertisement Analysis'

The controversy over child sexual objectification has continued since the past, but there has been an important reason why this issue has emerged especially in Korean society. An advertisement of an ice cream brand "baskinrobbins" was the beginning.  The brand released a new advertisement to promote the launch of its new ice cream flavor in last year. In the advertisement, a young girl who is an elementary school student appears wearing a pink dress and wearing makeup. The most controversial part here was that the camera excessively close-up her libs with pink lipstick on.  First of all, these ads will give girls about the same age as models a sense of "be pretty" and "be natural to dress up and make up." Women can be recognized as being beautiful through thick makeup regardless of their age.  It will give similar perception to young boys. They can accept that it is a natural phenomenon for young girls to wear makeup or pursue beauty just like adult women

WEEK 1. What is plagiarism?

Image
Plagiarism is the unauthorized use of other people's creations. Some people often confuse plagiarism with homage or parody. However, the homage was made in respect of the original work, and parody is used to make a caricature of the original work.

WEEK 1. What is the relation between Wikipedia and collective intelligence?

Image
Wikipedia is the crystal of collective intelligence. People write relevant information from various perspectives on one subject. Information becomes vast and accurate because it can be easily corrected by others even if someone has written the wrong information. And those who read it are free to accept it, use it, and broaden their knowledge.

WEEK 8. Which subway stations are good? Which are bad? Why?

A good subway station is a convenient place for disabled people. Elevators should be installed for people who have difficulty moving around, or there should be a sloping road instead of stairs. Braille and disabled sidewalk blocks must be installed. And there should be a safety officer in case of a dangerous situation.

[extra] Project 4 'advertisement obsevation'

Image
I found the Lee hyori’s soju advertisement.     This advertisement reminds of the shaking the drinks by waving and shaking the women’s body. This kind of soju advertisement is the most common example of sexualized advertisement.   It is famous that soju advertisements commercialize sex.  By using women model sexualized with revealing clothes and sexy moves.  C onscious of these criticisms, the soju advertisement makes the girl more cute and friendly.    The next is  collection of the soju advertisement. This advertisements are more later than the first advertisement. They try to get out of controversy, but they couldn’t. They use the girls cute and cool image however, this image can send the wrong message to people.     Most of the soju advertisements, girls look cute. This cant be emphasis on women’s cuteess like aegyo and their appearance. And the important part is soju advertisement is the commercials that only most popular celebrities can do that. So, to young girls could think p

The topic society: Atlantis   I think Atlantis is the highly developed society. When the environment is calm and stable from the weather, condition and something else, people can be more technological advance. Many countries that develops the technology was stable country.    The story tells that they only could build 3-4 stories because of the current. I think they have a advanced architectural technology. In the ocean they only have sand, some mud, the shells or corals. From this kind of materials, they have to build a steady building to survive in current. This kind of environment makes them to study of architect and the architectural technology was naturally advanced in Atlantis. And this society are highly prize about the art. Because of this they are put in their way of the appearance of the building. I think they might decorate the exterior to look more beautiful with the seashells, corals and some plastic materials that land mans are made.

[extra] Project 2 'Public observation'

I researched about the Time square in New York. The reason why I'm choosing this is Time Square is one of the most famous tour spot in the world. Lots of people are visit there.  03:02 Four people, two female and two male. They are sitting on the bench and talking.  The street cleaner is sweeping the road. Except this five, the bicycle rider and pedestrians are passing through the square. The stores did not open. There is not much people in the square, so there is not much garbage.  21:46 About 10 peoples are in the square. Some of them are standing and some of them are sitting. One girl is standing on the bench and taking a picture. A photograper is lying on the bench and taking a photo of her. Others are just talking. Also there is pedestrians and bicycle riders.

[extra] Project 3 'Technology assignment'

I need to set my alarms at morning because I had a class in 10:00a.m. I had to be in time on the class. However, I do't have any alarm clock in my room, so I need to use my cellphone to set the alarm. Also, I need a clock during a preparation for the class, as I said there is no clock in my room. So, I checked the time on the phone. I think many houses have a clock these days. I took a offline class at 10:00. To enter the building all of student have to check one's earth condition. This process is using by smartphone QR code system. Though it was offline, but I had to use a zoom for a class. For using it I need to use a IT machine. And in this class I used Kaggle notebook, because this class is studying for database and machine learning.  We live in a highly technalization and we used to it. In the past there are nothing like this, so people didn't feel uncomfortable about the absence. People would cook with fire only every time. they would sent letters to communication.

Project one 'Interaction observation'

Situation 1.  In 2020, many people reveal their own desire and dark side in front stages. Because of covid – 19, in new normal life ,they are tired to be gentle. I thought this situation shows how back stage comes out of front stage.    Regions:  front(public place) I think every public place is front stage. People share the place and face lots of people in there.    Descriptions:  Because of covid – 19, most of Korean wear their mask outside. Also, in Korea wearing a mask is a sociological rule and if someone didn’t wear it, it’s really odd action. We call it “ 민폐 (minphyeo)” in Korean. On the street, I was a  audience and other people who passing by was  non-person by Erving Goffman’s dramaturgy theory. Suddenly, person A came out from the restaurant without a face mask. In this situation person B who is  spotter , frown her or his face, move far away from him or her and leave the road quickly. I saw Goffman’s sociological dramaturgy in this condition. Person B who is ‘frown her or

For example, students will try to conceal their lack of interest in the subject they are studying. What other examples of idealization can we think of?

Most of the students try to conceal their lack of interst in the class. Most of the students using smartphones during the class, but they are hiding that using the smartphone. They may be using it under the desk and the book. Or for using the smartphones they may sit back side of the classroom.  Some students want to talk with their friends during the class. So, they use a paper or laptop message. When they using the paper to communicate, they write down the messages and deliver it to their friends. When they using the laptop, they are pretend that they are type what professors are saying. But for real, they just chatting with their friends.

Are students giving gifts to professors trying to bribe them into getting better grades?

Some students may give a gift to professors as a bibe, but most students give gifts thank for their professors.  Some students and school parents gave bribes including money to teacher in the past. But since 2015 the Kin-yeongran law are excuted in Korea. This law says anyone who gives money or the object that over 50,000 won to teachers are levied fine. And also the teacher who accept the bribe are levied fine too. In fact, from this law the number of bribes were conspicuously reduced. So, nowadays most of the students don't give their teacher a bribe. It's over the law. I think most of the gift that professors receive is just a expression of the thankfulness. And the gifts are like a cup of coffee and a cake.

(Extra) Project4: Advertisement Analysis

Image
In fact, there are still many media contents in Korea that a girl or young women is sexualized. On the other hand, however, there have been many moves to recognize the problem and criticize such media. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pW8fAg65HQ&t=72s The example I found is an advertisement on the YouTube channel "짧은대본." 짧은대본, which means "Short Script" in English is a South Korean YouTube channel that produces web dramas targeting people in their 20s and 30s. They posted advertisements on YouTube to find assistant director and sent them to Gyeonggi Bus TV. However, the advertisement was criticized for sexualizing young women out of context. Now, let me take a closer look at the controversial advertisement. In the video, two men appear to talk about information on hiring supporting directors. Meanwhile, they listen to the conversations of women sitting next to the table and listen to their bodies. The camera takes a close-up of women's body parts, such as th

Week 8 Extra: "Shops are important for liveliness and the additional pedestrian flows they attract." Can we think of places that should have more stores? Would the campus be better if it had more shopping places?

Image
Based on Haeyang-dong, Sangnok-gu, Ansan-si, where the ERICA campus of Hanyang University is located, I think there should be more shops here. Currently, there are not many commercial districts in front of the campus. There are mainly restaurants and cafes here. Therefore, there is not enough space to buy household goods. Supermarkets exist even if they are small, but there is not enough space to sell goods that give convenience to life like clothing stores. Therefore, people living around here move to buy things, which I think is a vicious cycle that makes businesses limited. Therefore, I think more shopping places should be located in front of the school to grow and revitalize the economy.

Week 8 Extra: Which subway stations are good? Which are bad? Why?

Image
I think Noksapyeong Station on subway line 6 in Korea is a good station. Noksapyeong Station was awarded the 2019 Korea Public Design Award. In order for people using the subway to experience public art naturally, an underground art garden was set up to fit the structure of the station, which was evaluated as harmonious for nature and art to coexist in the city. The design of Noksapyeong Station not only provides a pleasant feeling for citizens, but also has good accessibility because it is located in a key area of Seoul, the capital of Korea. On the other hand, there are also bad subway stations. Many people consider Geumjeong Station on Line No. 4 as the worst station. Geumjeong Station is a transit section where Line 1 and Line 4 meet, so many people pass by. Therefore, illegal merchants sell things on the subway or in the station. On the way to and from work, the large number of people who use it makes people uncomfortable, and it is strengthened by illegal merchants.

[Week 1 Extra] What is the relation between Wikipedia and collective intelligence?

I think the biggest advantage of Wikipedia is that everyone can share their thoughts and exchange information without difficulty, which is the best example of collective intelligence. Many people's thoughts, knowledge, and experience come together to create colorful and rich data in Wikipedia, and to help many people around the world. Wikipedia serves as the best channel for collective intelligence, in that it's not one-sidedly affecting people, but that everyone can freely share and share knowledge in an equal place. In fact, not only did I get new information through Wikipedia, but I also learned a lot through the process of writing and editing myself, and I could experience collective intelligence through collaboration with others. I thought it was very good and beneficial in this respect.

[Week 8 Extra] "Shops are important for liveliness and the additional pedestrian flows they attract." Can we think of places that should have more stores? Would the campus be better if it had more shopping places?

I think it would be nice to have more stores to shop on and around our school campus. Perhaps all Erica students agree with this idea.  There are many restaurants and bars around our school, but there are not enough shops to shop. For this reason, if I need shopping, I have to go to another neighborhood by bus or subway. If a shopping complex enters a space with a large floating population and that much consumption, like a campus, I think it will be beneficial for everyone. It will provide convenience for students, and as the streets near the campus become more active, there will be a positive impact on both commercial districts and the atmosphere. When good and diverse stores are opened, people naturally flock to them. Therefore, if there are many shops in areas with a small floating population and need development, it would be a good opportunity to save the local commercial districts.

[Week 2 Extra] How do we shape our behavior because of others?

Our behavior is often changed by others. First, it changes by deliberately copying others. Second, when people are forced to change due to their gaze or surroundings. Third, there are changes that result from consideration for others. Most people, including myself, will experience the second most. Considering how others think of me and how my actions will affect people, our behavior naturally changes. Of course, there are people who act unconsciously, but I think it's probably hard for most of them. It is not necessarily a bad phenomenon to change behavior to suit people's perspectives or moods, but I think it is necessary to be careful not to be swayed by others and lose your perspective.

[Week 1 Extra] Why are you taking this class?

I had repeatedly regretted not having taken sociology classes in the previous semester, but this time I applied because I wanted to learn sociology. The most attractive thing about this class was its access to sociology in everyday life, as the name of the class suggests. If we just say "social studies," it may seem a bit difficult for beginners like me, but I expected that I would be able to feel interested in it while being more familiar with it in our daily lives. I thought I could become a person who can understand our society more deeply and think variously by learning the study of sociology through not difficult but interesting examples.

Week 8 Extra: Is the ERICA campus well designed? Could it be better?

Image
I don't think Hanyang University ERICA is well designed. Of course, I think it is good that the campus is located on a flat surface and the road is well distinguished from India. However, it does not appear that a large site on the ERICA campus is being used efficiently. There are many unused land on campus.  For example, a grass field located in front of a start-up care center is left unattended and unused. Few students in the school would know the purpose of the land. The same is true of the land to the west gate.  As Hanyang University ERICA owns a large site, I think it would be better to use it efficiently to promote students' convenience and welfare.

Week 5 Extra: What’s the front (setting, appearance and manner) of a TV idol?

I think the front of Korean idols on TV is formed with the formalized and well-cultivated appearance that the public wants. They maintain a pretty and handsome appearance in all the empty spaces where the camera shines on them, including filming locations such as stages and sets. Even if it has a bad effect on health, most of them stay skinny without fat. In addition, they are always kind and have a smiling attitude. I don't think the front of these people is what they really are. The public has a lot of criticism if they don't maintain their previously described appearances and attitude. Therefore, even though it is abnormal, TV idols keep their regular appearance.

[Week 2 Extra] What is more important : the actions of individuals or the environment that influences them?

I think the environment that influences people is more important than the actions of individuals. It is not common for an individual's behavior to affect the entire environment, but it is easy to experience that the environment has a significant impact on a person's behavior and thoughts. We are more influenced by our surroundings than we recognize ourselves. What other people say, the atmosphere around them, and the location easily change our attitudes. Depending on the surrounding environment, the attitude we need to have varies. There are also times when you have to act in accordance with each situation. But of course, I think the importance of individual behavior should not be ignored. This is because society sometimes develops in a better direction by changing the surrounding environment by individual actions.

[Week 1 Extra] What is plagiarism?

Plagiarism is the stealthy use of some or all of another's works. If you reveal the source of a work created by another person, use it, or simply quote it, it is not plagiarism. But if you secretly use it as if you were making a new one, it becomes plagiarism. This is an important issue not only because it is morally and ethically problematic, but also because sufficient sanctions or penalties are imposed legally. We should create works through our own thoughts and efforts as much as possible. And if we refer to other people's creations, we must pay attention to the source and protect the copyright of the creator.

[Week 8 Extra] "Every successful indoor space provides food." Do you agree?

I also think that all successful indoor spaces provide food. Considering the indoor facilities that many people as well as myself visit, it seems hard to find that they do not provide food. We can all buy food in most indoor entertainment spaces such as movie theaters, PC rooms, book cafes, and board game cafes. Selling food is not the main purpose, but it even enhances the competitiveness of the business with food. I think this is because people stay indoors for a long time, so when there is food, people feel more satisfied and not bored. For these reasons, I think that places where we can play comfortably with food for a long time, such as book cafes, board game cafes, and room cafes, continue to be created and popular.

Week 4 Extra: What is Drama? Please try to describe theater as if you were explaining this concept to a person who never heard of it.

Image
A drama is a work about a fictional character, not a real one. The characters face an event, conflict, and eventually the process of solving it is expressed. These are all fictional characters and events created in the imagination of the author. Video clips that are developed in the form of stories are usually called dramas.  Erving Goffman suggested a theory called Dramaturgy in this regard. It describes the behavior of individuals in society to manipulate their identity appropriately and strategically in social reality.

[Week 8 Extra] Which subway stations are good? Which are bad? Why?

I think a subway station with easy access is the best station. The accessibility referred to here includes both access to nearby busy streets and facilities where stations are located and accessibility to move around through other subway lines. Like Gangnam Station and Hongdae Station, stations with major facilities right near the station are crowded because they are so useful and convenient. Also, I think stations that are convenient to transfer to various lines such as Express Bus Terminal Station and Seoul Station are good stations. In fact, however, there are not many central shopping malls or facilities around the station in my neighborhood, such as Yangju Station and Deokgye Station. In addition, these stations are only available on one line. I think this is a bad case of not actively using the station.

Week 3 Extra: What's the meaning of yellow ribbon?

Image
The yellow ribbon symbol originated in the United States. People with families who had been involved in the war in the United States tied yellow ribbons to trees hoping that they would return home safely. Beginning with the Puritans in the 4th century, it spread to the United States, one of many stories about the origin of yellow ribbons. It has also become a symbol of honor for people far away since Tony Orlando and Dawn's song "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round The Old Oak Tree" was released in 1973.  In South Korea, the yellow ribbon is considered a tribute to the 2014 Ferry Sewol sinking. In hopes that the missing people from the sea would return safely, many South Korean citizens carried yellow ribbons in their bags, mobile phones, etc. or posted them on various SNSs.  There are numerous cases at home and abroad, and the yellow ribbon has become a common symbol of "wishing for the return of a distant person."

[Week 8 Extra] Is the ERICA campus well designed? Could it be better?

I think Erica campus is one of the poorly designed ones.  First of all, the land on campus is very large, so the distance between the buildings is relatively far compared to other campuses. From the perspective of students taking classes at various places, it may be a little difficult to move. In addition, most of the buildings are low, so it is tired to walk on a wide flat surface in hot summer due to lack of shade on campus. However, I think it would be difficult to hope for improvement because it is hard to move the building. And I think each building has no sense of unity in its design and appearance, and our school lacks its own characteristics. It will be a much better-looking campus if you get rid of the feeling of old buildings and remodel them into a more modern feeling. I think it is also a good idea to give each college and school facilities a sophisticated feel.

Week 2 Extra: How should a student act in order for the teacher to think the student is paying attention in class? What to do and what not to do?

Image
There are many behaviors that make the teacher think the student is concentrating on the class. Among them, the things I do often are as follows. First, make eye contact with the teacher. When the teacher talks, she can look into her eyes and deliver a message, "I'm listening to your story." Secondly, I answer the teacher's words. For example, a teacher often asks questions that require simple or long answers to understand students' understanding. At that time, if you nod or answer even briefly, the teacher will believe that you are concentrating on the class. Finally, take notes. If you often look at her while taking notes of her teacher's teaching, she will think you are concentrating on your class and studying hard.      On the other hand, there are also actions that should not be done. The most important thing is not to talk to friends for long. If you talk to a friend for less than 10 seconds, the teacher can guess that it is related to the cla
