Are students giving gifts to professors trying to bribe them into getting better grades?
Some students may give a gift to professors as a bibe, but most students give gifts thank for their professors.
Some students and school parents gave bribes including money to teacher in the past. But since 2015 the Kin-yeongran law are excuted in Korea. This law says anyone who gives money or the object that over 50,000 won to teachers are levied fine. And also the teacher who accept the bribe are levied fine too. In fact, from this law the number of bribes were conspicuously reduced.
So, nowadays most of the students don't give their teacher a bribe. It's over the law. I think most of the gift that professors receive is just a expression of the thankfulness. And the gifts are like a cup of coffee and a cake.
