Week 5. What's the front (setting, appearance and manner) of a TV idol?

What's the front (setting, appearance and manner) of a TV idol? Most TV idols have pretty looks and slim figure. They are colorful and beautiful. There should also be courtesy. They should always be careful about what they say and do, and they are heavily criticized by the public for saying or acting wrong. They have to be witty, cute, and attractive. With regard to setting, they are subject to strict management by their agencies. It's hard to have a private life.

Week 5. Imagine you and your family are throwing a party for your family friends in your house. What are the stages?

Imagine you and your family are throwing a party for your family friends in your house. What are the stages? Depending on the purpose of the party, the scope, date and time, and the format of the party vary, but the following precautions are generally required: The number of people invited is the same, and there is no need to limit the age when eating, but it is easy to invite people of similar age when dancing or playing games. The date and time decision shall be made on the first condition of the main invitee, but sufficient consideration shall be given to ensure that there are no absentees among the invitees, avoiding busy times. It is official to seal the invitation, but you can use a postcard. The contents of the invitation shall clearly state the purpose, date, time, and place, and if possible, the map, telephone number, etc. of the place shall be specified and sent no later than 10 to 14 days. Reply as soon as possible whether or not to attend the party. When it is difficult to

Week 5 extra) For example, students will try to conceal their lack of interest in the subject they are studying. What other examples of idealization can we think of?

For example, students will try to conceal their lack of interest in the subject they are studying. What other examples of idealization can we think of? Examples of idealization can be seen in maintaining interpersonal relationships.  Even if you don't have a particularly friendly heart for the other person, you shouldn't reveal it when you're doing a team project or in public places. Even if there is a boss at work that we don't like, we won't express it. Another example can be shown at a restaurant. Even if the delicious food we imagined didn't meet expectations, we don't show it right on the spot. This is because we don't want to ruin the atmosphere and mood of our dining out counterparts by revealing unsatisfactory feelings.

Week 5 extra) What's the front (setting, appearance and manner) of a TV idol?

What's the front (setting, appearance and manner) of a TV idol? Most TV idols are usually externally gorgeous and beautiful.  They are also well-behaved and seem educated to be careful of what they say and do. And sometimes they have to be humorous or witty and act cute or look attractive. When it comes to setting, the average idol is thoroughly managed by the agency and is not allowed to stay free. In the meantime,  the size of the agency may determine whether it is successful or not.  They also have restrictions on dating or using cell phones.

Week 5 extra) Imagine you and your family are throwing a party for your family friends in your house. What are the stages?

Imagine you and your family are throwing a party for your family friends in your house. What are the stages? The stage will be a party venue for my family to prepare for my friends and friends' families. Because our family wants to be shown as a good side to friends and friends' families (preparing the party sincerely for friends) so this party scene becomes the stage.  On this party stage, my family will also prepare good events such as serving delicious food for my friend's family, playing music with a good atmosphere, and preparing surprise gifts. This can all be seen as an attempt to maintain a friendly relationship between me and my friend's social relationship.

Week 5. For example, students will try to conceal their lack of interest in the subject they are studying. What other examples of idealization can we think of?

For example, students will try to conceal their lack of interest in the subject they are studying. What other examples of idealization can we think of? When parents fail to meet their children's expectations, the child experiences frustration. And it is used by children as a material for the same time during the whole Oedipus period and as a material for structuring the self that controls the desire and controls tension. It is natural that an exaggeration of parental importance occurs during this period, which is essentially a time of dependence on parents, while the relationship is based on a desire for a satisfying object. Children form an image of parents who fill everything through their own experience of satisfaction. Idealization changes according to a child's experience of satisfaction, frustration, and anger. Thus, when parents become important regardless of their needs, i.e., when target constancy is established, idealization can be used for increasingly defensive purp

WEEK 5. What's the front of a TV idol?

All the idols on TV are 'perfect' externally. The term 'perfect' here means the standard that comes from appearanceism. They all do heavy weight management or excessive plastic surgery for body types that are thought to be 'beautiful.' And sometimes it allows the public to act childishly so that they can be cute. K-pop is a global culture, but there needs to be a change in what idols have to do to be "perfect."

W4. Extra ) the Interaction Assignment

First, I conducted mutual observation activities with my partner. Experimented in public and observed the reactions of passers-by.I can see the passers-by react very differently, and we try to understand it with the Goffman's theory, the difference between the front and the back.  Second,Through this experiment, we had a better understanding and better analysis of Goffman's theory of drama.  Finally, I think the experiment is more interesting, interacting with strangers during the experiment, making us feel that sociology is a very interesting subject.

W4. Extra ) What is drama?

Movies make you famous, televisions make you rich, but plays make you better.                                                                                                        -- Terrence Mann The novel is more of a whisper, and the stage is a shout.I think "drama" is a kind of performance art that concentrates on the way we've experienced some of the more typical experiences we've experienced in our lives. Drama was created to tell people the true meaning of life and social phenomena.I believe that in a big city, or even a small town or village, a good theater is a visual outward sign of its inner cultural possibilities.

W4. Extra ) What is drama?

Image
The drama Goffman explains is the totality of all the situations around him. So even if you are angry, you can end up smiling, and you can end up with a good but sad ending. Because the situation is constantly changing and affected by various factors. Just as the difference between front stage and back stage behavior has a big impact on the drama. Therefore, understanding of various factors is necessary to understand drama. In fact, it is the same logic that we need to know the characters and the plot to understand the TV drama we watch. To understand the situation of drama in our lives, we need to know what role the people around us play, what role is given to me, and how I belong to which team and how I interact. Understanding these factors will ultimately lead to understanding the situation I'm doing. That's the drama.

W4. Extra ) the Interaction Assignment

What did you do?  I observed people interacting in public places. The act of observing people in public places itself was interesting and little strange. Because I don't have any experience observing other people's interactions. What did you learn?  First of all, I could feel that people were acting like Goffman's theory. I also understood why they expressed acting by looking at different things in front stage and back stage. In particular, it was easy to see the academic theory and the nameplate of the situation in everyday life that the interaction was strengthened by gossiping about employees who didn't come in the back stage. Was it fun?  It was interesting to observe the interactions that I didn't know and knew. For others, it was the first time I had watched the actions and words of people who were not really close to me. In particular, by combining this with theory, I was able to understand it better.

week 4 extra) About interaction assignment

About interaction assignment The Interaction Assignment.  What did you do? What did you learn?  Was it fun? I observed others in public. From those who observed in the streets and restaurants, I could find Goffman's theory of Regions and Realizing Action of Communication out of Character. The behavior of the people I observed was so routine that I was aware of it before this project, but when I learned about Goffman's theory and observed it, I was proud to know about people's psychology. With this project, I learned that people's unconscious, unintentional behavior is also socially affected. I was amazed at that. This project seems to have been more interesting than fun. It was interesting to observe people and associate it with theory.

week 4 extra) What is drama?

Image
What is drama? : Please try to describe theater as if you were explaining this concept to a person who never heard of it Drama is one of the literary genres. It is a work of art expressed as a basic means of action and conversation of characters. The drama is made with careful directing of directors and various props. Actors come forward to explain the work by talking with certain actions, and the director leads the work in the invisible part, and the staff supports the additional elements. Dramas can be broadcast on television or on stage. Television dramas have no spatial limitations compared to dramas on stage, and the effects of editing can also express unrealistic elements.

Week 4-2(Fri) -1. The Interaction Assignment

The Interaction Assignment 1. What did you do? My partner and I have planned a situation where we purchase alcohol at a convenience store without an identification card. We asked the worker at the convenience store for permission in advance and looked at the reaction of our friend who was accompanying us. The experiment was conducted twice, once each with two friends. 2. What did you learn? Stages(regions), Team, Roles, Performances, Communication, Impression management, and Secrets. We analyzed everything. Through the analysis and classification process, Erving Goffman's concepts were more accurately understood. We were confused when we heard the explanation, but it was easy to understand when we analyzed it through an experiment. 3. Was it fun? We were a little embarrassed when we planned the experiment and set the background, and we also worried that it would be a nuisance. But we asked for your understanding and finished the experiment well. It was a little hard

Week 4. (extra) The Interaction Assignment.

I conducted The Interaction Assignment as a group project on the violation experiment. It was a violation experiment to observe the reactions of people around me when I didn't wear a mask in public. The behavior of not wearing a mask due to COVID 19 was considered abnormal and the experiment showed that there were people with various reactions. Irving Goughman said it was like a performance that produced self-effects by interacting with other people in daily life. The performer and the audience, outsider judge the situation with the information they have on their respective stages. I applied the theory to the actual situation and it was fun to produce the results.

Week 4 extra) Interaction Assignment review

Interaction Assignment  review 1. What did you do? I observed two men on the subway. One was a man who didn't wear a mask properly, and the other criticized him. When attention was focused on them, the man who did not wear a mask wore it properly. 2. What did you learn? People could feel for themselves that they wanted to look normal in public.  The reason why a man without a mask in the subway, wore a mask again is that he doesn't like people to see him acting out of normality. Everyone who goes out to public places must reveal that they are trustworthy to gain trust. Erving Goffman calls it ‘body idiom’, which is customary in a society-specific way. Understanding this customary body idiom will create an order of interaction together. 3. Was it fun? It was an interesting observation experiment where you can apply the theory that you learned only by words to your daily life. At first, I thought about where to find the case, but as I was conducting the experiment, I understood

Week 4 extra) About Goffman's book

The Goffman’s book The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life. How much did you read? Did you find it interesting? Difficult? Do you think it is a good book for students of social sciences in the 2020s? I'm trying my best to fit the amount the professor told me to read, but I haven't finished it yet. The Dramaturgy that society is considered a theater and that all individuals perform plays is very interesting.  But there are also difficulties. First of all, there are parts that I don't know if I understood well because it is difficult to read article in original language. So I thought it would be nice to have a single organized table. I think it is also valid in the 2020s because people have multiple personas. But I think it is necessary to expand by introducing the concept of online situations. This is because there is a growing trend of interaction in the online environment. (as I did my assignment !)

Week4 extra) About interaction assignment

The Interaction Assignment. What did you do? What did you learn? Was it fun?  I conducted a Breaching experiment for project 1. I was in a situation where I couldn't carry out my observations face-to-face. So I did an experiment using Kakao Talk, and this was the difference from Goffman. I broke the promise of my relationship with my friend through Kakao Talk. I replied coldly and badly to my friend(participant), who always exchanged friendly words. And my friend thought I had a complaint or something was wrong. It was the same view that Goffman looked at individuals who broke the rules in society. It was the first observation experiment, and the process of organizing the experiment was not easy. Also, it was hard to read English books, understand the contents, and do an experiment. However, I think I was able to realize and learn the meaning of the violation experiment. The reaction was also interesting after he told his friend that the experiment was a violation.

Week 4. What is Drama?

What is Drama?  : Please try to describe theater as if you were explaining this concept to a person sho never heard of it Drama is a comprehensive work of art made by many people, including writers, actors, and directors, and is often seen on television. It is a video program that storytelling the characters' various forms of conflict and the resolution of the conflict. That's why drama is called the art of conflict.' It has the character of fiction in that it deals with reality but is based on fictional characters, spaces, and themes. There are components of motion, dialogue, and plot in the drama, and conflicts or tensions between individuals, individuals, and society and the state are used as the main themes. Television dramas are classified into one-act dramas, daily soap operas, weekend soap operas, and mini-series, and by subject, they are classified as home dramas, historical dramas, melodrama, orthodox dramas, rhetorical dramas, social dramas and rural dramas. Ever

Week 4-1(Mon) -1.What is Drama?

What is Drama? : Please try to describe theater as if you were explaining this concept to a person sho never heard of it A drama is an art piece that expresses a character's behavior or conversation as a basic means, a play that is broadcast on television or something, and it figuratively refers to a dramatic event or situation. Dramas usually have one theme and story and are free in their development and situation. Therefore, dramas can change somehow at any time in the direction that drama writers and directors want. That's why Korean dramas usually end strangely.  There are many dramatic situations in the drama. So we often say, "It's like a drama," when something incredible happens in the real world. It's so absurd that it's like a deliberate attempt. Nevertheless, dramas can gain popularity because they contain people's joys and sorrows. Usually, Korean dramas prefer content that can appeal to Koreans. Sometimes there are unrealistic dramas, but

Week4) Review about my Interaction Assignment

The place I have been observed is a café. The café involves a few tables and chairs. It is well designed for the outsiders to get interested.  When I was there, two kinds of people were in this place. They were the clerk and the customers.    The clerk welcomed the visitors politely and made some beverage and dessert. She was in smile for all the time facing the customers and mostly dressed in tidy clothes. After she got the orders, she stayed in the kitchen, which is staff only, taking a rest and looking at the CCTV occasionally. A few hours later, the other clerk got into the kitchen for the rotation.    Besides, in the main room of the café, the customers sit around the tables. Some of them drank coffee and tea talking about their boring life. Some worked with their stuff very silently. And others played the board games making loud noise. In specific, there were two people sitting in front of me. They were a teacher and a student. The student bought a cup of coffee for the teacher

Week4) elements of sociological dramaturgy in the last 24 hours

Let me indentify elements of sociological dramaturgy in 'MY' last 24 hours. There are front stage , and back stage . The front stage is the zoom space when I participate the lecture. In there, I perform the character of 'Good student'. The back stage  is my private rented room. There is none except me. So I don't have to pretend to be some character. And there is Team. What team is in there? there is group where I belong to, with 3 members of student returnin to college after doing their military service. We share knowledge, tips for doing assignment, lecture, so on. And there also have many Roles. Performer : me / Audiences : other class mates / Service specialist : Professors of my courses ...so on. I'm sorry for this situations, online college life because of COVID-19, that I'm missing so many interactions in everyday life because now days my life is so monotonous, boring. I hope the day we meet in real classroom will comming soon. Thank you for read

Week4) Review about my Interaction Assignment

I often just listen the conversation of next table in cafe, restaurant, pub..etc. But I have never observed other people in attention. It was fun to me doing observation others with my friends. I talk with my friends "What happen next?", "Is he success?" Watching the process of one guy picking up other lady gives us tensions. And I learned there are many interactions that can be explained by Goffman's dramaturgy theory.  So from now on, I'll give more attention about other people's conversations, acts, interactions and substitute theories I learned in this course.

Week 4-1(Mon) -3. What other examples of idealization can we think of?

Image
What other examples of idealization can we think of? 1. Submit assignments by the appointed submission time. 2. If you're late for class, enter the back door quietly. 3. Turn off your cell phone when you take an exam. 4. Behave quietly in the library without sound. 5. When doing a team project, do your job responsibly. 6. Keep the appointment time with your friend. 7. Throw garbage in the trash can. 8. Use honorifics and use courtesy to adults. 9. Not running around in the hallway. 10. Drink and don't drive.

Week 4-1(Mon) -2. How should a student act in order for the teacher to think the student is paying attention in class?

Image
How should a student act in order for the teacher to think the student is paying attention in class? 1. Don't touch my cell phone. 2. Don't chat with your friends. 3. Take notes in class. 4. If you don't know anything, raise your hand and ask questions. 5. Sit in the front seat. 6. Answer the questions you ask well. 7. Take good care of the supplies such as textbooks and writing equipment. 8. Come 10 minutes before class and prepare for class. 9. Work hard on homework or homework. 10. Do not late.

Week 4-1(Mon) -1.What is Drama?

What is Drama? : Please try to describe theater as if you were explaining this concept to a person sho never heard of it In my opinion, the drama has a basic background. This means that the storyline is set. The materials are used to create and describe specific situations. However, there is no limit to set the background. Anywhere can be a background. If the background is set, it is time for the character to appear. The characters are usually associated with the background. The main character is the one who leads the whole drama. Each character is given various personalities and roles. As everyone is different, every character performs his or her own role. The drama is mainly about the background and characters leading the situation. The development of the content may flow in a positive direction, but it may also flow into tragedy. It will be easy to understand and sympathize with the drama if you watch it while taking into account the situation, role, and personality of each

Extra (2W) How do we shape our behavior because of others ?

How do we shape our behavior because of others ? It seems to differ depending on who they are talking and acting with. Humans cannot live alone. I have no choice but to live by interacting with someone.  But here, if I do what I want to do, I'm alone and can't get any help. (That doesn't mean that I don't show my personality at all when I'm with others.)  It means that you should keep your personality and appearance and change a little depending on your relationship with the other person. Depending on who the others are, such as when you are with your family, with close friends, and with your seniors and juniors, we do different behaviors.

Extra(2W) Let's look at the following pictures and try to answer: how do those people feel? Why do they act the way they do? What can we learn form answering those questions?

Image
Let's look at the following pictures and try to answer: how do those people feel? Why do they act the way they do? What can we learn form answering those questions? The seventh picture is 'A performer in Belguim'. Performs on the street to show someone what they have prepared. By hosting a performance, they may be cheered or not received any response. But they can be said to perform because it is work, a job, and a happiness. From this photo, you can learn that any performance or presentation took days or months of effort, not minutes of effort. Performers make hundreds of times the effort to show to someone. The eighth picture is 'A boy in Mauritania'. The boy in the picture seems to brag about catching fish. It may not be novel and happy thing for those who have been fishing everyday, but young children, like boy, would be happy and want to boast even if they catch small fish. That's why he bragged about catching fish by biting it in his mouth. The photo show

Project 1. Script

Hi , we have decided to proceed with a group project on the violation experiment with Project 1. First of all, the violation experiment, in the fields of sociology and social psychology, is to study people's reactions to violating general social rules and concepts. Sociologist Erving Goffman's study, in particular, laid the theoretical foundation for ways to study social meanings and behavioral norms of everyday life, assuming that we violate unspeakable but universally accepted rules. What do you think is the most important issue now? It's COVID-19. COVID-19 is respiratory syndrome caused by SARS-CoV-2 infection and has symptoms such as fever, cough, and difficulty breathing. One of the ways to prevent COVID-19 transmission is to wear a mask. Wearing masks can help prevent the spread of viruses. Therefore, you must wear a mask when you go out. However, there are people who ignore these recommendations from the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and do not

Week 3) What can we learn from a breaching experiment?

Through this experiment, we can expand our thinking.Everything that happens in social life can't help but let us think about it from a different perspective.Everyone in society is a stand-up performer. What everyone does and wants to express, wants the audience to feel. These are the things I learned and thought about through this experiment.

Project 1

In our daily lives, we all carry out our roles. There are also "rules" that people should implicitly follow in public places. Keeping these 'rules' is our role in public places. According to Irving Goffman's theory, such a figure can be regarded as 'performance.' People don't like to get out of the 'rules'. This is because the moment they break the rules, they cause discomfort to others who were playing a role. How will others react to this if some people don't perform their roles in public places? From now on, I will talk about my observations. For more than half a year, corona 19 has been in fashion, so people have come to wear masks whenever they go out. But sometimes I could see people walking around without masks in Gyeongsangbuk-do where I am I located. So I decided to observe how many people didn't wear masks, and how others would think of them. I sat on a bench near my house wearing a mask and watched people pass twice a day fro

W3(Extra). What's the meaning of yellow ribbon?

Image
It is said that the origin of the yellow ribbon was that the wife or family of a husband who participated in the war in the United States waited in the hope of tying the yellow ribbon to a tree and returning safely. As everyone in Korea knows, when a missing person from the Ferry Sewol sinking accident occurred, it meant wishing for a safe return by marking a yellow ribbon on SNS messages or wearing a ribbon badge. In Korea, there was a yellow ribbon movement in 2005 to pray for the safe return of North and South Koreans. It is said that the yellow ribbon was also used as a symbol of resistance in the Hong Kong pro-democracy movement. There is also a song called 'tie a yellow ribbon round the ole oak tree', so it would be nice to listen to it. Next, I wrote some lyrics of the song. I think it would be good to read it once in a while, so I share it! Whoa, tie a yellow ribbon 'round the ole oak tree It's been three long years Do you still want me? (still want me?) If I

W2(Extra). How should a student act in order or the teacher to think the student is paing attention in class? what to do and what not to do?

Image
I think the act of showing that students are concentrating is to answer their teacher's questions well and talk a lot in class. Of course, talking a lot should be related to the class. Because if showing the teacher's concentration in the class becomes passive, such as simply reading a book, the teacher wonders if the students are really focused. As a result, the teacher asks or scolds the students if they are focused. That's why you have to show the behavior of nodding your head, answering questions, or asking questions about things you don't know as a sign that you're focused on.  On the other hand, you should not chat with your teacher to show that you are focused. Because small talk is irrelevant in class. Also, you shouldn't do the act of falling asleep in class. +)I joined the blog late after changing the course, so I wrote the blog late. I told you via email, but I'm sorry for writing it late.

W2(Extra). Why would people burn the flag of the USA? what is it a symbol of?

Image
The act of burning the national flag is interpreted as an act of resistance to national policy. It turns out that the burning of the Stars and Stripes in Texas was also an act of protest.  However, contrary to this interpretation, there is also an interpretation of contempt for the country. Because the national flag is a symbol of the country. That's why some people support flag burning as freedom of expression, while others claim it's a national insult. Most of the time, whether they are guilty of defaming or not, the flag means a lot of things, such as the identity and culture of the country, so they are negative about the act of defaming and burning the flag. +) I joined the blog late after changing the course, so I wrote the blog late. I told you via email, but I'm sorry for writing it late.

W1(Extra).What is the relation between Wikipedia and collective intelligence?

When I looked at Wikipedia's role and meaning of collective intelligence, I thought Wikipedia is the place where collective intelligence was used. Wikipedia is an Internet encyclopedia that anyone can write. Collective intelligence refers to something like a mass of intelligence gathering together to solve a problem. Wikipedia articles are sometimes written by individuals, but many of them are modified by many people to make perfect articles. Collective intelligence is utilized in this process. Therefore, I think Wikipedia is the best place to utilize collective intelligence. +) I joined the blog late after changing the course, so I wrote the blog late. I told you via email, but I'm sorry for writing it late.

W1(Extra).What practical skills do you expect to gain from attending it?

I want to learn two things. First of all, I would like to study what sociology applies to everyday life around us. There will be a broader range of discussions, but I believe that if we develop the ability to access problems around us from a sociological perspective, we can also discuss issues on a larger scale. Secondly, I want to learn how to write, edit, and collaborate on Wikipedia. I've read Wikipedia, but I haven't written it myself. So this semester, the process of learning Wikipedia may seem difficult, but I would like to write a piece on my own and contribute to collective intelligence. I hope I can learn these two things from the social studies lectures in my daily life and finish the semester. +) I joined the blog late after changing the course, so I wrote the blog late. I told you via email, but I'm sorry for writing it late.

W1(Extra). Why are you taking this class?

Once I was interested in society. So I took an Invitation to sociology last semester, which was a little difficult, but I was interested in looking at the structure of society in theory. So I wanted to take a class related to society this semester. Just in time, a lecture on sociology in everyday life was held, and I also wanted to contribute to solving problems by applying theories to society. Through this lecture, I really hope to approach and solve everyday problems from a sociological perspective. +) I joined the blog late after changing the course, so I wrote the blog late. I told you via email, but I'm sorry for writing it late.

week 3 extra) What’s the meaning of Yellow Ribbon?

Image
What’s the meaning of Yellow Ribbon? The yellow ribbons originated in the United States when families of those who participated in the war tied yellow ribbons to trees and waited for their safe return. After a song released by Tony Orlando and Dawn in 1973, it became a symbol of missing and remembering people far away. In other words, the yellow ribbon is a symbol of hope for a return. In Korea, a yellow ribbon campaign was launched on April 16, 2014, when many students went missing in the wake of the sinking of Ferry Sewol, and wished for their safe return. Many people in Korea participated in the yellow ribbon campaign and I carried yellow ribbon badges in my bag throughout middle and high school. The yellow ribbon is a symbol of wishing for a safe return, and in Korea, it is a symbol of remembrance of the Ferry Sewol victims.

week 2 extra) How do we shape our behavior because of others?

How do we shape our behaviors because of others? Each of our actions, personalities, and small habits are influenced by the people around us. And it depends on who the people around it are. Almost everyone will agree. Different people may have different degrees, but I tend to be less conscious of the surroundings. Of course, if we're not conscious at all, It may be a problem, But it's also a problem to make up too much I think showing the other person the true me is to approach the person sincerely. That's why we have to constantly grow up and look at myself critically. For others, ultimately for me.

Week 3 What can we learn from a breaching experiment?

It helps us combine simple theories with complex phenomena.I think doing a breaching experiment can put us in a different way of thinking.exploring experiments in unknown fields requires the accumulation of basic experiments and experience, so I think that breaching experiment is good for us.through experiments one can guess and analyze people by their appearance, movements, and expressions.

Week 3 What's the meaning of Yellow Ribbon?

Image
What's the meaning of Yellow Ribbon? I don't know if yellow ribbons are only in Korea, but the meaning of yellow ribbons in Korea is very great. The nation's people were deeply saddened by the sinking of Ferry Sewol a few years ago. Because the yellow ribbon is one thing that remembers the countless students and teachers who sadly ended their lives at the time, and the many who died at the scene of the rescue. On the street, you can see people wearing yellow ribbons in their bags or on their clothes. When I see the yellow ribbon, I suddenly feel sad and remember that time. So the yellow ribbon means a lot to me and to everyone. And looking at the yellow ribbon, I think it also means that if the incident happens one more time, it won't be repeated again.

week 2 extra) How should a student act in order for the teacher to think the student is paying attention in class? What to do and what not to do?

How should a student act in order for the teacher to think the student is paying attention in class?  Then I have to do my duty as a student. It would be nice if you could make all the preparations for the class and mark with your whole body that I'm taking the class now. For example, a teacher nods after talking or participates in a presentation sincerely at the time when he or she has to make a presentation. It is better to show an active attitude such as asking questions when something you don't know comes up. And it's better to take notes after the horse is over than to take notes when the teacher is speaking. Because class is also the interaction between teacher and me. What to do and what not to do? It is not good to doze off or do something else in class. It's okay to talk to a friend next to you for questions, but it's not good to chat. It's not good to go to the bathroom often and get out of class. You shouldn't have negative feelings abou

week 2 extra) How do we shape our behavior because of others?

How do we shape our behavior because of others?  Man is a social animal. Live by interacting with each other. No one is completely alone. No one's got a family. Let's consider my case. I think my personality changes depending on who I meet. Once I'm alone, I don't say much and stay quiet. I get to have facial expressions and actions for self-defense. But when I meet close friends, I become talkative and considerate. But when I meet someone who I don't see for the first time or who I'm not very close to, I get extremely upset and do very little. I don't get to react to what he says either. So I am one of the people who is greatly influenced by others. I'm not sure if I influence others. But I don't think I'm such a negative person to others. Everyone thinks well of me.

week 2 extra) What is more important : the actions of individuals or the environment that influences them?

week 2 extra) What is more important : the actions of individuals or the environment that influences them?                       What is more important  : the actions of individuals or the environment that influences them?  I am a person who thinks that individual behavior changes according to circumstances. Because I experienced it myself. At home with my family, I was lazy and lazy than anyone else because I didn't have to clean and do the laundry myself. But after I became a college student, I came to live in a dormitory. Therefore, there was no one to do the laundry and the cleaning, so they all belonged to me. After that, I live alone, not in the dormitory. I came to a situation where I had to do the laundry, cleaning, and cooking. It wouldn't have been like this if I were still living with my family. Also, I am a thoroughly individualistic person, and if I were to live in a family, I would no longer be individualistic if I changed from a single-person environment to a m

Week 1 extra) Why are you taking this class?

I once studied sociology to take a test to enter university. But when I entered the university, there was a difference from the sociology I knew. In addition, I decided to take this class because it is a class where I can learn by combining my daily life and sociology. What practical skills do you expect to gain from attending it? Week 2 extra) What is more important: the actions of individuals or the environment that influences them?

What is more important: the actions of individuals or the environment that influences them? What's your opinion in this question. This is truly difficult question because both of them are really important factors to anyone. However, I think the actions of individuals is more influence to people. For instance, I'm teaching middle school student at the community center. They really don't want to studying. Their surrounding environment are perfectly normal, but their school grade are not good. Because they don't want to study. This is why I think the actions of individuals is more important.

Week 3. What's the meaning of Yellow Ribbon?

Image
What's the meaning of Yellow Ribbon? It is a symbol that comes from a wife or family with a husband who participates in a war in the U.S. who tied a yellow ribbon to a tree and waited for his safe return. There are many theories about the origin of the yellow ribbon, but the song "She wears a yellow ribbon" tells the story of a woman wearing a yellow ribbon in the hope that her loved one made in the 4th century will return safely. The song was passed on to the United States by European puritans in the early 1600s, and during the British Civil War, Puritan troops went to war wearing yellow ribbons and bands. In particular, the yellow ribbon has become a symbol of longing and remembering people far away since the release of the pop song "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round The Old Oak Tree" released by Tony Orlando and Dawn in 1973. This is a song about a man who was released from prison after three years of imprisonment during the American Civil War in the 19th centu

week 2 extra) What symbols do we see, and how do they influence our behavior?

Image
What symbols do we see, and how do they influence our behavior? Symbols represent abstract and indistinct concepts as concrete objects. The gold toad is a symbol of wealth. Wealth does not exist as an object. However, it was conceived using gold toads. And in the subtitle of the drama 'The Heirs', 'He who wants to wear the crown, bear its weight,' the crown symbolizes power. As such, symbols are sometimes used instead of direct words. The symbol of good luck is a four-leaf clover. As children we scoured the soil around to find the symbol of good luck. If you were looking for a four-leaf clover, you would feel better and some friends would carefully store the leaves by coating them. As such, I think symbols are more than just objects. It's just a symbol, not a special function, but just looking at it and having it makes me feel like I got the abstract and unclear concept of the object. If you have a gold toad, you will be a man who seems to have wealth, and if you

How should a student act in order for the teacher to think the student is  paying attention  in class? What do do and what not to do? You have to show by action that you are concentrating on the class and trying to understand it. Because teachers can't notice if they don't mark it. The student makes eye contact with the teacher and nods, indicating that he is listening well in class. It also asks questions and expresses doubts and informs you that you were concentrating. Students should not bend their heads to their desks or stare into space. This means that he is not concentrating. Lectures are two-way communication, not one-way communication. For quality lectures, interaction with teachers through the indication of concentration and concentration of students is important.
