Week4) elements of sociological dramaturgy in the last 24 hours

 Let me indentify elements of sociological dramaturgy in 'MY' last 24 hours.

There are front stage, and back stage.

The front stage is the zoom space when I participate the lecture. In there, I perform the character of 'Good student'.

The back stage is my private rented room. There is none except me. So I don't have to pretend to be some character.

And there is Team.

What team is in there? there is group where I belong to, with 3 members of student returnin to college after doing their military service. We share knowledge, tips for doing assignment, lecture, so on.

And there also have many Roles.

Performer : me / Audiences : other class mates / Service specialist : Professors of my courses ...so on.


I'm sorry for this situations, online college life because of COVID-19, that I'm missing so many interactions in everyday life because now days my life is so monotonous, boring.

I hope the day we meet in real classroom will comming soon.

The Interaction Assignment. What did you do? What did you learn? Was it fun?  I conducted a Breaching experiment for project 1. I was in a situation where I couldn't carry out my observations face-to-face. So I did an experiment using Kakao Talk, and this was the difference from Goffman. I broke the promise of my relationship with my friend through Kakao Talk. I replied coldly and badly to my friend(participant), who always exchanged friendly words. Week4) Review about my Interaction Assignment

  The place I have been observed is a café. The café involves a few tables and chairs. It is well designed for the outsiders to get interested.  When I was there, two kinds of people were in this place. They were the clerk and the customers.    The clerk welcomed the visitors politely and made some beverage and dessert. She was in smile for all the time facing the customers and mostly dressed in tidy clothes. After she got the orders, she stayed in the kitchen, which is staff only, taking a rest and looking at the CCTV occasionally. A few hours later, the other clerk got into the kitchen for the rotation.    Besides, in the main room of the café, the customers sit around the tables. Some of them drank coffee and tea talking about their boring life. Some worked with their stuff very silently. And others played the board games making loud noise. Week 1. (extra) Why are you taking this class?

 Why are you taking this class? Sociology naturally occurs in people's lives. However, I didn't have many opportunities to think about what sociology is and how it works in our lives. As  the title of this class, I was curious and wanted to learn about the sociology of everyday life.  I am used to passive learning until I come to college, so I have a fear of active learning. But this class seems to have more active learning, so I think I can change myself from pursuing passive learning. What PRACTICAL SKILLS do you expect to gain from attending it? I just got information from Wikipedia, but I've never participated in Wikipedia myself. Through this class, I want to participate in writing in Wikipedia and get writing skills.
