[Extra] project 3 'Technology Assignment'

Hello, we are Seyeon and Yeonsu. We will begin the presentation of our technology assignment.

We tried to live without modern technology for a day on Sunday, November 22. Before we started this project, we made a list of the technologies we usually use. The list included computers, televisions and smartphones. And when there was an inevitable need to use the technology during the 24-hour period, the name of the technology, the time of use and the purpose of use were recorded separately.

After finishing the project, we analyzed our use of technology.

We found that the technology that we couldn't live without was a smartphone.

On the contrary, in the case of television, we were all able to spend the day without use for 24 hours.

In the case of computers, Yeonsu had no choice but to use the computer because she had to submit her assignment, but Seyeon had no major inconvenience without using the computer.

In the case of television, we could both spend 24 hours without using it.

We all had to use smartphones. Yeonsu used a smartphone to book bus tickets at 11:42; to call parents at 15:10; and to order meal delivery at 19:00. Seyeon used a smartphone at 16:35 to talk over the phone with a friend about the assignment, to check the subway time to come to the dormitory at 19:00. Both of us tried not to use technology other than this.

Yeonsu used computer because she had assignments to submit online, but in the 19th century people would have to visit the submission agency in person and submit the assignments face-to-face, which would have been universal. The spread of computers has given people in modern society the efficiency of time and money.

Television is used in modern society to pursue entertainment. In the 19th century, even without television, people would have spent their leisure time searching for other attractions. The advent of television has the advantage of being able to provide not only entertainment but also important information such as news to many people quickly.

In the 19th century, when there was something to communicate, people would have met in person to deliver through writing or letters, not by phone. This would have been very uncomfortable in a situation where the story had to be told quickly. With the invention of the telephone and the creation of a smartphone, we can talk on the phone as soon as possible, so we couldn't have lived without it as in the past. We think that phone calls have had a lot of influence on our lives in that we can quickly share our stories and opinions with people far away.

In many ways, it seems to be a difficult time to live without modern technology. We will finish our presentation. Thank you.
