Week 1 extra) Why are you taking this class?

First of all, in today’s society, all kinds of social problems have emerged. It seems that every hot social event has something to do with our lives.For example, the widening gap between the rich and the poor has caused parents in rural areas to work in cities, and children at home have become left-behind children. This is a generation of people who have been sacrificed by working. The country’s economic development has led every family to have an idea: whether or not to have a second child. This social topic is often on hot searches. The country's economic development has also led to the rapid development of self-media platforms. At the same time, the problems of fraud and false advertising rumors on self-media platforms often appear, and many social problems still exist. So I want to use a sociological perspective to understand this society, so that I can look at the world from a new perspective, and be more tender or rational about people and things.



Secondly, I found that sociology is very theoretical, and I can have new knowledge and new understanding of each professional term. These are constantly repeated thinking processes, which can improve my logical thinking ability.



Finally, the research method of sociology is the positivism research method. There are several project experimental studies in this course. I like this kind of personal practice and exploration process. The conclusion of the experiment is self-proved, will have a sense of achievement.

W4. Extra ) the Interaction Assignment

  I had an Interaction Assignment activity with my companion and observed the responses of pedestrians on the road. Through the observations and reflections of Goffman's theory, we find that "no matter what the specific goal an individual has in his mind or what the motivation for achieving it, his interest is always to control the behavior of others, especially the reactions of others to him."This control will be achieved primarily by a restriction that affects others gradually, and he can express himself in some way by giving others an impression that he will lead others to act on their own will."This is what we call impression management. The process of human communication is the process in which people perform "self", but this "self" is not the real self, but the "self" dressed up in symbolic disguise.

What's the front of a TV idol?

I think TV idol has very different image in front and back stage. Many of them can't show their difficulty or tiredness in front of the camera, because of the image. Many people call that 'professionalism'. Like dancing in the rain in the concert or on the TV show regard of health problem. Also, they have to be on makeup or wear a fancy clothes all the time in front of the camera or in the show. They can be shoot anytime.  Normal people don't do like this. Most people are rest in their home when they are tired or have a health issues. And not everyone be on a makeup all the time. Because everyone don't mind about them. But TV idols are different. They have to be perfect in front of the camera. So, I think the front stage of TV idols is all the time when they are in front of the cameras.
