W2. (extra) What's the meaning of yellow ribbon?

According to the current affairs exhibition, yellow ribbons were originally a symbol of wishing for the safe return of a person on the battlefield. Yellow ribbons began to be widely used in Korea after the Ferry Sewol incident. A yellow ribbon campaign was launched to wish for the safe return of the missing. Due to the influence of the campaign, yellow ribbons are still considered a symbol of the memory of the Ferry Sewol victims in our country. So every April 16th when the Ferry Sewol incident occurred, people upload yellow ribbons to honor them on their social media, messengers, or the Internet. It's a symbol that breaks my heart every time I see it personally.
